Debt is unfortunately a growing challenge in society today. This is not news to us; our debt service began back in September 2008 and recently celebrated 15 years of providing a bespoke, holistic debt service to some of the most vulnerable clients in Sheffield. We know firsthand the devastating effect debt can have on beneficiaries and their families.
In 2024 alone we have:
This is only made possible through generous donations and the tireless work and dedication of our volunteer team.
We work together with our food banks so that we can offer debt support at the point of crisis. We will visit beneficiaries in their homes if this is where they feel most comfortable or another place of their choice, supporting them to gather their paperwork so that an accurate and bespoke debt plan can be presented to them. We will journey with beneficiaries until they become debt-free and many after this as they continue to access our community café spaces.
We are a go-to option for agencies in Sheffield who support clients in other aspects of life and we regularly receive referrals from Live Well at Home, Shelter and Community Support Workers.
Sadly, over a third of our clients have considered suicide as their only way out of debt; we are here in Sheffield to ensure that no one has to deal with debt alone and that beneficiaries experience the truth of the passage in the bible from Isaiah 61, especially: freedom and release from the grasp of debt.
To provide this debt support we partner with Christians Against Poverty
