Welcome to Food and Community Trust
In a climate of economic decline, increased isolation, diminished school attendance, Food and Community Trust has been birthed; bringing hope, practical support and community through our youth services, food provision and debt work and social cafes.
Since the early 2000’s we have been delivering this support through our multiple projects to beneficiaries in Sheffield who have found themselves in financial crisis, isolated, hungry, and/or disengaged with school.
Our decades of experience in supporting beneficiaries living in areas of multiple deprivation enabled us to respond effectively and creatively to the demand created through the pandemic and cost of living crisis.
This could not have been possible without generous support from funders and our committed staff and volunteer team and for this, we are extremely grateful!
Our vision is to ensure that no one goes hungry, debt is reduced, income is increased, and people are welcomed into the community.
In 2023 alone our work has resulted in £200,000 of debt being relieved, 23 adults becoming debt free, £300,000 of money has been put back in people’s pockets through our financial inclusion work; we have distributed over 19,000 parcels which has fed over 35,000 adults and 20,000 children with over 1 million meals and that is in 2023 prior to launch date of 1st November. Throughout 2023 our youth work has engaged meaningfully with 250 young people each week across the city of Sheffield.
Working together with churches, community projects, schools, and agencies our foodbank, debt support and youth work is making an impact on current and future generations, seeing them break free from poverty.
We are striving to bring about a better future for the current and next generations through the provision of food at point of crisis, providing support to address financial hardship and debt, whilst reducing levels of isolation through our holistic approach and then supporting children and young people to improve their attendance at school.
Our youth projects at Forge Youth include mentoring in schools, after-school clubs, Healthy holiday programmes, football leagues and youth work with some residential offers has reached some of the hardest to engage young people.
We have a small and growing staff team of 16 employees and hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life.
As Food and Community Trust we seek to:
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.
